Summer rides
It has been a great season of cycling. I recorded a few memories on the randonneuring page, and wrote an extended report of the Gold Rush 1200K randonnée.

Randonneuring updates
For the first time in over a year, I've added some content to the randonneuring page, including ride reports for the 2009 San Francisco 300K and 400K brevets. (I wrote both of these within days of the rides, but was too disorganized to actually post them.)

No-longer-recent photos
Moving into a new house has taken its toll. Only a couple months late, here are photos of our April trip to Italy.

Brief update
So much has happened in these last two months! Marilisa has learned to walk and we bought a home in San Francisco. Tomorrow we leave for Italy for a week. Here are photos of Marilisa at home in Berkeley, and others taken at Easter and at various other times in the past few weeks.

Mount Diablo and more
We took advantage of President's Day weekend to go on an overnight cycling and camping trip to Mount Diablo. We stayed at Junction Camp, about half way to the top, in a grove of beautiful gnarled oaks that were magical in the morning mist. On the second day, Nathania and Jon drove up from Fremont to join us for a hike up the mountain. I took a bunch of photos.
And here are photos of a recent trip to Ventura (ladies only: Marilisa, Mom, and Grandma Julie), and some random shots of life in Berkeley.

Marilisa turns one
January is over, and Marilisa is one year old. Unbelievable.
On a Saturday in mid-January we all rode the steam trains in Tilden Park to celebrate the birthdays of Marilisa and her cousin Christopher, who is just a couple weeks older.
Some photos.

New Year's in Marin Headlands
As always, we went camping over New Year's, but this year for the first time we had a little person with us. It was Marilisa's first overnight camping trip.
We packed our camping gear onto the bikes—some of it in panniers, some in Marilisa's trailer—and headed for the hills. We spent two nights at Hawk Camp, a beautiful spot nestled in a grove of Bishop pines high above Gerbode Valley in the Marin Headlands. From our campsite we could see the city of San Francisco—including the fireworks on New Year's Eve—and the coast towards Santa Cruz. A short hike to the ridge above us afforded awesome views in all directions: Mount Diablo, San Pablo Bay, Mount Tamalpais, and the Marin shore.
Marilisa had some trouble with the strong winds, but she loved being in the tent and playing around the campsite. Apparently pine needles taste good. I think there are more trips like this in our future.
You can see some photos here.

Random memories from fall '07
We haven't been very good with the Marilisa photo updates in the last couple of months.
In October we all flew to Boston for Thomer and Julie's wedding (see also thomerandjulie.com) and used the opportunity to visit other friends as well.
In December, we took photos of a lovely day in Redwood Regional Park, not far from Berkeley.
And just for good measure, here are a few dozen photos of funny, random Marilisa moments from the fall.

Paris-Brest-Paris, and a short tour of the Alps
The randonneuring page has two new reports about PBP. One is mine, in English, and describes my failed attempt, and the other is by Ranieri Casalini, in Italian, and beautifully recounts his successful ride.
After all the problems at PBP I had the opportunity to ride for a few days in the Alps. I had a much better time, and you can read a report here.

Late summer
Someone is scooting around on her butt and eating plenty of solid food. Here are photos of Marilisa at home in the last couple of months, and some shots from Grandpa Tim's birthday.
